For those with older Mustang II crossmembers with a fixed 16-inch center-to-center mounting point distance we have put together this simple kit to help facilitate installing the newer T-Bird power rack to your crossmember.Installation is easy for the T-Bird rack by simply using the offset rack bushings and mounting hardware we have provided in this kit to change the center-to-center mounting bolt location to the wider 16-inch dimension used on the original Mustang II. I threaded on my rod ends so they were evenly engaged. After I assembled everything and was testing it out, I realized the rack was off center and would not turn fully to left. It would be better if this was stated up front since this is supposed to be a direct replacement for a mustang 2 rack. I highly recommend this rack. By Larry on January 02, 2021. The rack is getting installed on a'41 Chevy coupe. With the offset bushings, it is an easy install. Very nice rack & pinion at a great price. By bill on December 15, 2020.The unit stated that it was replace for a Mustang II, with the use of offset bushing. There is another difference that was not noted. The steering shaft is about an 1 inch longer T-Bird rack. For may application on my 48 Chevy was a problem as the steering shaft passed thru the left engine mount bracket.
