Ford Mustang II Power Steering TBird Style Rack & Pinion

  

All new rack and pinion units fit aftermarket and original Mustang II crossmembers and available in manual or power steering, All new parts are used eliminating a core charge and ensures quality components, Manual version has 16-inch mount centers and 9/16-26 spline input shaft, Power version has 15-1/2-inch mount centers and 3/4-36 spline input shaft, Power version has 5/8-18 and 9/16-18 O-ring style ports for connection of power steering lines (AN -6 adapters included). Ford Mustang II Power Steering TBird Style Rack & Pinion. Use bolt kit 91034342-2 to bolt rack directly to the crossmember. Use bolt kit 91034342-3 with 9101023 rack spacers if extra crossmember clearance is needed converting from a manual rack.

Rack mounting bushings included with power rack version, but NOT manual rack version. Offset mount bushings 91034342 will be required if the crossmember only has 16-inch center to center mounting bracket holes.

Overall width of steering rack with inner tie rods is 45-1/8-inches. Compatible with standard Mustang II outer tie-rod ends, such as 91034316-MAN. Bump steer kit 721BAX102 can be used in lieu of outer tie rods if desired. If rack extensions are necessary for your installation the power rack requires 91034345-POW 25mm-1.25 thread extensions and the manual rack uses 91034345-MAN 14mm-1.50 thread extensions. The power steering rack has 5/8-inch and 9/16-inch O-ring style ports which will not work with inverted flare fitting-equipped power steering lines.

We suggest the Sweet brand u-joint 9103247 for DD shaft or 9103227 for 3/4-inch round shaft for connecting the manual rack version to your steering shaft. Fits aftermarket Mustang II crossmembers. Available in manual or power steering. Mount bushings are included with the Power version, but mount bushings are NOT included in the Manual version.

MANUAL: New manual rack and pinion steering assembly for Pinto/Bobcat/Mustang II based front suspensions in street rods and kit cars. The Unisteer U-joint tends to run big on this joint. POWER: New power rack modeled from the 1982-88 T-bird design which will work with aftermarket Mustang II crossmembers. (Can be used with a Saginaw GM power steering pump without any additional valves or inline pressure regulators). Overall width is 45-1/8" with 15-1/2" mount centers. Rack has 9/16"-18 female o-ring high pressure inlet and 5/8"-18 female o-ring low pressure outlet return line threaded ports.

Vintage on September 23, 2020. Installed on 1934 Ford Tudor sedan with a M2 front suspension. Had to make a few modifications to allow it to clear a crossmember but worked out great.
