For VOLKSWAGEN VW Power Steering Rack & Pinion Complete Jetta Beetle Golf 99-07
Jetta Power Steering Rack and Pinion Complete VW Golf Beetle VOLKSWAGEN 99-07. The most important part for vehicle swerving and security assurance for driving safety. Rack with pinion steering is quickly becoming the most common steering type on different types of vehicles. The part set is enclosed in a metal tube, with each end of the rack protruding from the tube.
A tie rod connects to each end of the rack. There are two things that rack-and-pinion gearset does.
It converts the rotational motion of the steering wheel into the linear motion needed to turn the wheels and provides a gear reduction, thus making it easier to turn the wheels. For left-hand drive vehicles ONLY, does NOT fit right-hand drive models. Using the steering wheel to set front tires forward. Lock the steering in place to keep the tires in alignment. Then remove both the positive and negative cables from car battery. Elevate your vehicle, remove front wheels. Drain the power steering fluid and detach the steering column lower joint. Remove all nuts from both inner and outer tie rods, disconnect tie rod ends from steering knuckles. Detach the front exhaust tube and place a support below the engine. Remove the centre member and all nuts attached to the engine mounts. Remove all nuts from the bulkhead hole cover and move the cover aside. Take the lower joint off the rack and pinion. Make a mark on the pinion housing and shaft to help you remember steering neutral position. Detach the power steering fluid pipes and mounting bracket bolts, and then remove the rack and pinion altogether. Put rack and pinion into position. Tighten the nuts to 54-72 foot-pounds of torque. Connect power steering fluid pipes to the rack and pinion. The lower pressure line should be torqued to 20-29 foot-pounds and the higher pressure line should be torqued to 11-18 foot-pounds. Align the lower steering joint and pinion shaft, and torque to 17-22 foot-pounds. Replace the bulkhead hole cover and tighten to 36-43 inch-pounds. Place the engine mounting centre member back into position, tightening all bolts to 57-72 foot-pounds. Then take the support out from below the engine. Tighten the nuts on the tie rod ends to 22-29 foot-pounds and secure a new cottar pin in place. Install all other objects in the opposite order of their removal. Fill the power steering reservoir with fluid, and then bleed the system.Perform a four-wheel alignment if needed. 1H1422061KX 1H1422061X 1H1422061AX 6K1422061A 1H1422051C 1H1422055 1H1422055C 1H1422055L.
